Introduction to CREST
Small Cohorts with Large Vision
The Newbridge Leadership Institute is at the forefront of educational innovation, particularly in its approach to easing the financial and academic pressures on out-of-state students. By integrating a path to earn alternative credits in a program dubbed CREST, the institute allows students to receive credit for courses based on their ability to demonstrate mastery of the subject matter, rather than the traditional method of attending class.
This model not only accelerates the path to graduation for those who can advance more quickly through the robust requirements but also provides a more flexible and personalized learning experience. Out-of-state students, who often face higher education-related expenses, benefit significantly from this system as it can reduce the overall time and cost required to complete their degrees.
How It Works
Standards-Based Review
Students wishing to receive alternate credit are registered and given access to the Digital Assessment and Reporting Tool (DART), which is immediately accessible from the student dashboard. Students have 16 weeks to access their DART board to prepare all required documentation and subsequently submit their alternative credit request. The DART module provides a systematic support structure and provides access to certified curricula coaches and a live forum. The CREST program offers five types of alternative credits. These categories can be understood to be generally accessed sequentially throughout the course of the student’s journey.
C
Certificate based Credit: Receive up to 9 credits for your PDP certificate issued by Life Development International
R
Review of Competencies: This robust portfolio review, confirms your knowledge of ministry-related competencies, up to 6 credits.
E
Exam-based credits are available for one core leadership and ministry course and one elective.
S
Submission of Conference Paper, in lieu of Capstone.
T
Trip to Campus is typically used for an optional 1 credit elective, based on a report of attendance at an approved conference.
Alternative Yet Robust
This CREST program reflects the institute’s commitment to providing a robust education that equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their future endeavors.
The process for submission is robust, and each applicant should expect to spend at least 35 hours per credit in preparation of their submission for alternative credit.
The institute employs independent certified coaches who are well-versed in the institute’s approved curricula to guide students through their competency-based learning journey. These coaches play a pivotal role in ensuring that each student’s academic progress aligns with the academic objectives of their respective courses. This personalized coaching guarantees that the standards of education are maintained and that the competencies acquired by the students meet the rigorous requirements of the institute’s esteemed graduate program.
